CCCUCC has various groups and events that either meet weekly or monthly or occur on an occasional “special event” basis.
The Choir & Music Ensemble
The Sanctuary Choir is led by Barbara Hamm, our Minister of Music. It meets once a week on Thursdays at 2:15pm and sings approximately every other Sunday. The choir is often accompanied by our Instrumental Ensemble which is comprised of piano, flute, clarinet, mandolin, cello and harp (and occasionally various percussion instruments). The Instrumental Ensemble also typically plays our Gathering Music at 9:45am (15 minutes before the service) and from it also come various duos and trios.
The Rolling Tones Handbells
The Rolling Tones handbell choir has been bringing our music to the church and community for 15 years. Handbells can add a unique sound and a sense of awe to a worship service. For the musician, participation creates a sense of community and sharing. Some say it releases dopamine and improves mood. We say it is just great fun with friends. This group typically meets weekly from September through May. For more information, contact the director, Leslie Lessenger at lhl@lessenger.net
Dogs & Dominoes
Dogs and Dominoes is a weekly “fun” time for those who like to get together play dominoes (with or without a dog), chat and have snacks. They play Mexican Train Dominoes, and it is easy and fun to learn. They meet weekly on Tuesday mornings at 10:00am.
Game Night
Game Night happens on the third Friday night each month at 6:00pm. People can choose to play a board game, dominoes, Jenga, various card games or what has become a favorite, Crokinole.
Buildings & Grounds Day
Buildings and Grounds Day occurs on the third Saturday of the month starting around 9:00am. People come and help pull weeds, trim, and plant outdoors; while others help clean, fix or spiff up the inside.
Book Club
The Book Club meets once a month on the second Wednesday night of each month, during which time they discuss the book they have selected to read that month.
Senior Saints
Senior Saints is a group of “seniors” who meet once a month on the Fourth Friday, usually for pizza, around 4:00pm. This is a time for fellowship and sharing among our “seasoned” folks who are typically retired.
Labyrinth
We also have a nationally registered labyrinth in front of our church that any one can walk. It is great for meditation. There are also benches out there to rest and relax and enjoy the view of the Carquinez Strait.
